The latest poll of Tory members shows Theresa May's career is now teetering on the edge of oblivion
Theresa May's future as Prime Minister is in serious doubt after suffering a catastrophic loss of support from Conservative Party members.
According to a new survey by the ConservativeHome website, the Prime Minister is now the second most loathed politician in the entire party - a plunge from her glory days as 'most popular PM in almost 40 years', which the right-wing tabloids gleefully gloated about only six weeks ago.
What have they got to gloat about now, though? Well... not a lot.
May's satisfaction rating now rests at -26.1, when just a few weeks back it was +89.1. This is the consequence of calling an egotistical snap election then refusing to step down when the gamble failed, despite calls at the time from grassroots members for her to fall on her sword - even the most faithful of minions will not tolerate this behaviour for long.
Despite this colossal collapse of support, most Conservative Party members do not want her to step down immediately. This is possibly because the disastrous decrease of Tory support in the polls suggests that if another general election is called then this time Labour may emerge victorious; this is not a risk the Tory members are willing to take.
Despite these poll ratings, it looks like Theresa May is determined to cling onto power for as long as possible, with her spokesman confirming yesterday that May was still intending to serve a full five-year term.
But with her own party members so horrendously dissatisfied with her leadership, it's only a matter of times before she's given her marching orders.
